Customer objective
Interconnect the regional optical backbones of Liguria and Piedmont, made with different technologies, through a DWDM-OTN solution with ROADM node architecture that guarantees two separate connection routes right from the outset.
Needs
Develop Data Center Interconnection (DCI) services for business continuity through a third disaster recovery (DR) node in a different geographic region. In addition, expand the existing MPLS networks using the channels of the new interregional optical network with the integration of pass-through nodes in an additional region, Lombardy.
Solution
We integrated DWDM/OTN devices into existing networks, creating new nodes distributed between Piedmont, Liguria and Lombardy belonging to technologies from two different suppliers, Ribbon and Huawei, through the “Alien Spectrum Lambda” solution. We developed new inter-regional channels with 100/200 Gbps OTUk capacity, encapsulating eVPN and MPLS services to ensure optimal connectivity.
